Anabolic Steroid Use in Baseball

Anabolic steroids are used in baseball just as much now as at any other time since steroid use became a popular option for athletes. Unlike other sports and athletic competitions, the Major League Baseball Organization did not investigate or ban the use of steroids among its athletes. Baseball avoided all issues of steroid use as a performance enhancer until the McGuire steroid use story broke.

Many of the accomplishments made by baseball players in the years leading up to, and immediately following, the revelations of the BALCO scandal were tainted. Baseball had been marked by steroid use and still is today, even its use in prescriptions will be scrutinized over by the media, the organization and the fans.
